Michael is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) with more than 24 years of experience in financial planning, retirement planning and tax planning. He holds Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 registrations with LPL Financial, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Ohio Society of CPAs. Michael earned his MBA from Case Western Reserve University and his bachelor's degree in Computer and Management Science from Kent State University.
Prior to founding Western Reserve Wealth Advisors in 1994, he worked for a number of companies, including Accenture, Ameriprise Financial, Fabri-Centers and Sherwin-Williams. Michael’s experience working in corporate America makes him appreciate being his own boss and helps him understand the issues many of his clients typically face.
As the oldest of 10 children, Michael learned early on that if he wanted something, he was going to have to figure out how to get it. His parents expected him to go to college and they made it clear to him that he would have to pay for it. The path he took to get an education – working through high school and college – was just as important to him as the degree itself.
Michael lives in Newbury, Ohio, with his wife, Cheryl, and has four children: Kevin, Kelly, Catherine, and Sean. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, hiking, whitewater rafting and golf. As a volunteer in the community, Michael has served as Treasurer for the Geauga Council for Arts & Culture and served on the finance committee for The Federated Church.
